duty-alternative

Again and again I encounter in coaching the felt lack of freedom, which  is caused by a preconscious orientation on obligations and expectations. This focus has in our cultural context replaced largely the inner willingness and strength to assume responsibility for ourselves and others. So we do things in order to fulfill our duty and forget that this obligation pattern is only the formalized cheap copy of something much more marvellous, strong and free in us. Instead, we try to avoid being supposedly unreliable, unsuccessful, lazy, etc., by handing  ourselves over to obligation. But who says that we would be so without obligation?
Suppose you also have original qualities in yourself, of which your sense of duty is just a cheap copy, what qualities would they be? What would you say “Yes” to anyway from your inner depth, without obligation? How would you be if you just navigate through your job / life orienting on these qualities?
