need for a mirror

When we leave the content level of our conversations with others aside, we can figure out what we request in a meeting with regard to the question: What do I want the other to see of me / think about me? We often have such a desire, a hope, an expectation, a need that – if we were to express it – might sound like: “Please see that I am …”
If you find yourself in such a request: Do you have it because you actually know that this quality which the other should see belongs to you?
What if the other does not see it? Would it then be less a part of you?
What do you want it then seen for? (This question can be regarded as a rhetorical question or a serious question.)
