success with no intention

Many “successful” people tell how their career path has happened rather than they having deliberately and strategically planned it. And many “not yet successful” people attempt to plan their way, to design their destiny, to shape their career. Are these discrepant paradigms? Can it be that the own call is bigger and more powerful than our cognitive abilities? If you don´t want to deny this question for yourself, I offer the following questions to reflect on your professional orientation and hope you allow yourself to reflect on it even if you don´t find a quick answer:
When and how is my drive preventing my own development?
In what areas is rather an allowing and trusting beneficial?

What needs to happen, so that I can be without intention but yet self responsible and active?
What is my personal definition of success?
